GKAISA Officials Certification Clinic

The key to running effective and efficient swim meets is a cadre of volunteers who are dedicated to placing the swimmers interests above all else. Most swim meet jobs can be filled by any responsible adult with a minimum of training, but there are a few jobs that require special training and certification. The Bettas have an ongoing need for GKAISA Certified Officials at the following positions and it is essential that we have depth at each:

  • Referee ~ Must be certified annually.
  • Stroke & Turn Judge ~ Must be certified biannually.
  • Starter ~ Must be certified biannually.

After attending a clinic, individuals who wish to be certified will take an online test. Be assured that there will be numerous opportunities to "shadow" and experienced official, both during swim practices and at a meet itself.

Additionally, attending a clinic is an excellent opportunity for parents and other interested persons to learn the technical aspects of competitive swimming, such as proper stroke technique and the rules governing swim meets. You will become a better swim parent with the knowledge gained at a clinic. You might even enjoy a swim meet more!
